GFL To Continue Trash Collection in Cadiz City

The Cadiz City Council has approved the franchise agreement with GFL, ensuring the continuation of trash collection services within the city limits. This decision was made during a special meeting held at Cadiz City Hall on Monday evening. According to City Administrative Officer Jack Lingenfelter, the council reviewed proposals from both GFL and Republic Waste from Mayfield. After careful consideration, the council opted to renew the existing franchise agreement with GFL, with only a slight increase in monthly fees compared to the other company.

Lingenfelter further explained that there were some variations in commercial rates between the two bids. The new three-year franchise agreement will come into effect on May 1, 2026. Additionally, the council approved the annexation ordinance for the Cadiz RV Park, located off Rocky Ridge Road. Lingenfelter clarified that the ordinance must be advertised, and the Cadiz-Trigg County Planning Commission must conduct a public hearing and update the zoning in the area before the park annexation is finalized.
